Pancakes, Pajamas, & Prepping a New Scene
This is what I've been up to. For two weeks. The planning of, the recovery from.
Events take a lot out of me, much like a book.
Luckily, I love both things enough to put in the work, put in the energy, put in the listlessness that follows.
It was fun, by the way. Tomorrow, I have a lemonade stand to help out with. But I also have a scene with furniture being delivered to the middle of a NH forest to write.
I'm back on track.
Two weeks later.
P.S. I'm no Maggie Weston, Children's Party Planner Extraordinaire, but I have some advice. When planning such a party, remember:
1) Have it somewhere other than your home. Otherwise, you clean up before AND after. I rather throw money at someone else to avoid that.
2) It's all about the toppings. We had pie fillings, maraschino cherries, gummi bears (the most popular topping!), MMs, Skittles, Reese's Pieces, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, even Fruit Loops and Apple Jacks. I forgot the four cans of whipped cream in the fridge (the "glue" to hold everything to each bite), but no one noticed. They were too sugared up.
3) Have not only individual milks for the kids (more expensive, but again, easier for clean-up) but also water bottles. They get thirsty for "healthy" stuff. Also, have individual bottles of Starbucks' Frappucinos for the parents. They'll love you.
